'Ayer Manis' Beach

A hot, humid, equatorial beach, in tropical coastal west Sumatra. 'Ayer Manis' is an Indonesian (bahasa) word for 'Sweetwater'. This beach is a short bus trip from Padang. But be careful of chickens under the bus seat, though!
it is located in the south of padang city or behind mount padang (if the pass way in the siti nurbaya bridge can be realize, the distance would be 4 KM away from the city center. there is ketek banana island in front of the beach, and there is also the legend stone of malin kundang here. you can do trekking here from BA river along the Mount Padang (the mount is actually as high as a hill so do not afraid in amaze the heavy field)

I almost trod on one, packed in a cardboard box wedged under my seat.

The yellow green vegetation growing in the creek are river palms, which grow in brackish salt water. The darker & taller palms, are coconut palms.

An Indian Ocean beach south of Padang, a small town about 1/2 way down the west coast of Sumatra. 'Ayer Manis' is the name of the beach, & it translates to 'Sweet Water'. Fortunately, this area only sustained minor damage from the tsunami, as it was protected by a chain of off-shore islands. I walked out to the 2 closest islands in the distance at low tide, along a sandbar in ankle deep water.

The fallen coconut tree across the shadow of the palm on the left has formed an 'x'. It looks like a thunderstorm was brewing on the right.

Located 10 KM south of Padang city or behind Mount Padang (if the pass way of the Siti Nurbaya bridge can be realized, the distance would be 4 KM away from the city center here, there is Pisang Ketek Island (Small Banana Island) in front of him, and there is also the legend stone of Malin Kundang here. And you can do trekking from here from a BA River along the Mount Padang (the mountain is actually just as high as a hill so do not be afraid to imagine the heavy field), to Sweet Water Beach is on the way, you will find the tomb of Siti Nurbaya (located I do not know exactly because I am not interested to know, but you can ask the locals to be more precise)
